Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced Saturday that nearly six million people have regained electricity supply after the latest Russian attacks on Ukraine’s critical infrastructure.

«During the day it has been possible to restore power supply to almost six million Ukrainians. The repair work is continuing now and has not stopped since yesterday’s terrorist attack,» the Ukrainian leader said, referring to a missile attack in Kiev and other regions of the country.

Zelenski confessed that «there is still a lot of work to be done» to stabilize the electricity system throughout the country, admitting that problems with heating and water supply continue.

In particular, the «most difficult» situation is in Kiev, Lviv, Lviv, Vinnytsia and their respective regions, the Ukrainian president detailed in his daily message to the country’s population.

«Unfortunately, there are large-scale outages in many other regions, including Dnipro and the Dnipropetrovsk region; Volhynia and the Zhitomir region; Transcarpathia and the Ivano-Frankivsk region; the city of Odessa and its region; the Poltava region, the Ternopil region, the Chernobyl region and other cities and regions,» Zelensky added.

In this connection, the Ukrainian head of state appealed to the international community to provide Ukraine with «the necessary means» to protect its airspace with an effective air defense system in view of the serious damage suffered.

«You can do it. You can give protection to our people, 100 percent protection against these Russian terrorist attacks,» Zelenski said.
