UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has warned the Ukrainian authorities not to accept any peace negotiations or dialogue with Russia until the invading troops have left Ukrainian territory.
According to the ‘premier’, with the excuse of a hypothetical cease-fire, Russia could take advantage to regroup or reinforce its positions and supply its troops in the most compromised points, according to the Ukrainian agency Ukrinform.
«We must realize that any unilateral call for a ceasefire by Russia is absolutely senseless in the current context,» warned Sunak, who believes that such negotiations should not be accepted until Russia leaves Ukraine.
In this line, the British head of government recommended Ukraine to remain focused on «reducing» Russia’s capabilities to regroup and resupply, while urging the international community to sanction Russia’s supply chains.
«Our collective determination is clear, we have supported and will continue to support Ukraine. That is first and foremost because their security is our security,» the British prime minister said on the sidelines of a Joint Expeditionary Force summit in Latvia.
The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, took part in the meeting and took the opportunity to reinforce arms supplies to Ukraine by the member powers of the Joint Expeditionary Force: Denmark, Estonia, Finland, Iceland, Latvia, Lithuania, the Netherlands, Norway, Sweden and the United Kingdom.
