Mexico’s Defense Ministry arrested Antonio Oseguera, brother of Jalisco Cartel – New Generation (CJNG) leader Nemesio Oseguera, alias ‘El Mencho’, this Tuesday at 5:20 a.m. (local time).
According to preliminary information reported by Mexican newspaper ‘El Universal’, Antonio Oseguera is in police custody after his arrest and is being transferred to a penitentiary.
El Mencho’s brother was designated by the US Treasury Department as the head of the CJNG, which also includes Los Cuinis, a group headed by Antonio Oseguera’s brother-in-law.
With this arrest, Mexican authorities have further closed the fence on ‘El Mencho’. Antonio Oseguera joins Rosalinda Gonzalez Valencia, the cartel leader’s wife, who was also arrested in November last year.
According to authorities, the arrest of ‘El Mencho’s’ wife dealt a «significant» blow to the financial structure of organized crime in the state of Jalisco.
