Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has accused Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky of «lack of understanding of the gravity of the moment and lack of concern for his people.»
«He does nothing but bubble ideas,» Lavrov said in an interview with Belarus 1 television channel in Minsk on Monday, later picked up by the DPA agency.
According to the head of Russian diplomacy, the Ukrainian leader’s ideas in turn reveal «the racist character» of the Kiev leadership.
At the same time, Lavrov verbally lashed out at the West, stating that the «hysterical reaction» to the «special military operation» – as the invasion of Ukraine is called in official Moscow jargon – confirmed Russia’s opinion that the war had been «absolutely necessary».
Earlier, the foreign minister had acknowledged that «it makes no sense» for Moscow to maintain in Western countries the same diplomatic presence as before the outbreak of the war.
According to the Russian top diplomat, Russian diplomatic employees work in most Western countries in conditions that «can hardly be called humane», the Russian news agency TASS reported.
