The Russian Embassy in the United States has stated that the strengthening of bilateral relations between Moscow and Minsk creates irritation to Washington.
«Apparently, this development causes irritation in the United States, which does not abandon its attempts to isolate the Russian Federation and the Republic of Belarus in the international arena,» reads a statement from the office, which accuses Washington of interference.
«Such statements by the official representative of the administration are de facto interference in (Russia’s) internal affairs,» the Embassy criticizes.
The Russian diplomatic headquarters has criticized the U.S. attitude, after State Department spokesman Ned Price called it the «height of irony» for Russian President Vladimir Putin to claim that he has no intention of absorbing Belarus while invading Ukraine.
«I think a statement like that should be treated as the height of irony coming from a leader who is seeking at the present moment to violently absorb his other peaceful neighbor,» Price asserted hours before the Russian response.
Following these words, the Russian Embassy has accused the United States of corrupting Russia’s relations with its neighbors «to maintain its dominant position».
«They do not want to admit that not all states are ready to live according to the fictitious ‘rules’ imposed by Washington,» he rivets.
