The Kremlin on Tuesday suspended the agreement on education it shared with Ukraine for the «recognition and equivalence» of academic degrees obtained in either of the two neighboring nations.
This was confirmed by the Russian Foreign Ministry in a statement on its Legal Information portal, where it was specified that the agreement was signed more than two decades ago, at the end of May 2000.
The decision comes after the Ukrainian authorities denounced in early May – during the first weeks after the invasion of their territory – all agreements with Russia in the field of education and science, including the recognition of academic degrees, reports TASS.
The Russian Ministry of Education and Science has previously warned that the abolition of this agreement would mean the end of mutual recognition and equivalence of diplomas and academic degrees of both countries.
