Journalist Claudio Locatelli and photojournalist Niccolo Celesti, both Italians, have been wounded in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson after coming under attack from the eastern bank of the Dnieper River, where Russian troops are stationed.
According to Locatelli in a video posted on his Facebook channel, both he and his partner are «fine» after being involved in the attack, which took place on Monday, reports the Italian news agency AdnKronos.
Locatelli has denounced that the attack was deliberate as the vehicle in which they were traveling «was well marked» and there was no one on board but both journalists. «The attack was intentional,» he denounced.
«I lost blood, but the wound is minor (…) Shooting at the press has no excuse. Luckily we are fine, we will continue to verify and denounce this conflict precisely in response to those who want to silence us,» Locatelli said.
