U.S. President Joe Biden said Wednesday at a joint press conference with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodomir Zelenski, that support for Kiev is «part of something bigger» and that Ukraine «will never be alone» in the face of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s war.

«Ukraine has won the war in Kherson. It has won the war in Kharkov,» the U.S. president stressed, also using his speech to criticize Putin for attacking democracy, undermining international law and using winter «as a weapon.»

The US president devoted a large part of his speech to detailing the military and humanitarian aid that Washington has prepared in the framework of his visit to the United States, which includes more than 374 million dollars from the United States Agency for International Development (USAID), which will provide food to more than 1.5 million Ukrainians.

He also officially announced the new military aid package, advanced by the US Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, valued at 1.85 billion dollars, which includes the first shipment of Patriot anti-aircraft defense systems, which will be a «critical asset» for Kiev.

Biden ended his speech by recalling the celebration of Hanukkah. «Light will prevail over darkness,» he said, stressing that Washington will be with Ukraine as long as necessary, since «Putin has no intention of stopping this cruel war.»

In the question and answer session, he stressed that «he has never seen NATO so united». Thus, he pointed out that the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, had the intention of weakening the Alliance and what he has done, on the contrary, is to strengthen it. «We have never seen such a big invasion since World War II,» he stressed.

For his part, Zelenski thanked Biden for the latest announcements of military aid from the Administration and described his visit as «historic», since in recent days both nations have strengthened their diplomatic ties.
