Russian officials assured Wednesday that the possibility of a new mobilization order for the war in Ukraine is «not on the agenda», days after Kiev claimed that Moscow could be considering such plans and even a new offensive to try to take control of the capital.
The chairwoman of the Federation Council — the upper house of the Russian parliament — Valentina Matviyenko stressed that Russian President Vladimir Putin «has said that there is no need for a new mobilization.» «Honestly: the issue has not been raised or discussed. It is not on the agenda,» he said, as reported by the Russian news agency Interfax.
Matviyendko’s words have come just two days after the secretary of Ukraine’s National Security and Defense Council, Oleksiy Danilov, assured that Kiev «does not rule out the possibility of (Russia) declaring a general mobilization.» «We must be prepared for anything,» he zanelled.
