At least 213 «terrorists» and «bandits», as well as their «collaborators», have fallen after several days of heavy fighting in Zamfara state, northeastern Nigeria, which has also left around twenty civilian and army soldiers casualties.
Since last Saturday the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) together with ground troops, in the so-called ‘Operation Hadarin Daji’, have been hitting several locations where these gunmen were operating, such as Dansadau.
«At least we have 213 bodies of the terrorists and their collaborators,» said the Army report accessed by the Nigerian daily ‘The Will’, in which it is reported that the offensive began in response to attacks by these groups, which are held responsible for the death of these ten civilians.
The governor of Zamfara, Bello ‘Matawalle’ Muhammad, has expressed his condolences «to those who were wounded and to the families of those who died as a result of collateral damage» of the fight against these armed groups.
In recent days this region has again been the scene of several attacks. The last one on the community of Randa, leaving about twenty civilians dead and several men, adults and children kidnapped.
Zamfara is one of the most dangerous regions in Nigeria, with large communities with hardly any presence of security forces, forcing local authorities to encourage their inhabitants to arm themselves to repel and defend themselves against the attackers.
