Russia’s Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu visited the front line in Ukraine on Thursday, where he met with the military to convey the government’s commitment to an offensive that is about to reach its tenth month.
The Ministry explained that Shoigu inspected some of the facilities provided for the troops, highlighting for example the good temperature, according to the official statement. He also wished happy holidays to the military.
Shoigu has traveled to the front a day after giving an account to Russian President Vladimir Putin, who gave a free hand to the unlimited funding of the Armed Forces to maintain what Moscow continues to describe as a «special military operation».
The Defense Minister also announced at this meeting the opening of naval bases in the Ukrainian cities of Mariupol and Berdiansk, located on the shores of the Sea of Azov and controlled by Russian forces.
