The Ukrainian Armed Forces reported Thursday that they have found a new mass grave with human remains in a cemetery in Pravdino, Kherson region, after regaining control of the area from Russian troops, who began last February’s invasion of the territory.
Yevgeni Yenin, deputy interior minister, said the bodies showed signs of torture and bullet wounds after being exhumed and sent for forensic examination, Ukrinform news agency reported.
«Another 36 graves have been found in a cemetery in Kherson. There is a mass grave with remains of servicemen. In total, during the occupation, the morgues have received about 700 corpses, about a hundred of which had war wounds,» he explained.
In this regard, he regretted that dozens of bodies have yet to be identified, although the authorities are taking DNA samples and carrying out analyses to identify the victims.
Earlier, Ukrainian forces have also found mass graves in Izium and Kharkov regions after the Russian army’s passage. In Izium, at least 40 of the registered bodies show signs of torture.
