Russian military authorities have presented a series of evidence allegedly evidencing U.S.-Ukrainian collaboration on joint work with biological weapon components.
The top military commander in charge of Russia’s radiological, chemical and biological protection, Lieutenant General Igor Kirillov, confirmed this at a press conference on the sidelines of a summit of the Biological Weapons Convention in Geneva, Switzerland.
«Documentary evidence has been presented that, with the financial, scientific, technical and personnel support of the United States, work has been carried out on the territory of Ukraine with biological weapons components, and studies of pathogens of especially dangerous infections,» Kirillov said, TASS reports.
Among the evidence presented, Moscow handed over the testimony of a former employee of the US Army Research Institute, who «once again confirmed the fact that work is being done with dangerous pathogens in Ukrainian biological laboratories financed by the Pentagon.»
Since the outbreak of the war in Ukraine back in February, Russia has denounced on successive occasions that some of the Western powers were helping Kiev in the development of biological weaponry.
However, the United Nations came out months ago to assure that it has no evidence that any biological weapons program is being developed, and referred to the Biological Weapons Convention as a guarantee.
