The UK Ministry of Defense claims that Russia does not have sufficient artillery ammunition to carry on with large-scale operations in Ukraine, now ten months after the invasion began.
That is the main conclusion of the latest report from the ministry’s intelligence service, which argues that while the mobilization of thousands of reservists since October has enabled Russia to solve its manpower problems, ammunition shortages continue to «constrain» its offensives.
In that regard, London maintains that for that very reason — the lack of cruise missiles — Russia has limited its long-range strikes against civilian infrastructure to about one per week.
«The vulnerability of Russia’s current operational plan is that even simply maintaining defensive operations along its extensive front line requires significant daily expenditures on shells and missiles,» the summary emphasizes.
