Russian President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of refusing to negotiate an end to the war, meanwhile they continue to move «in the right direction» to protect «national interests and the Russian people.»
«We are ready to agree with all those involved in the process on any acceptable solution, but that is their business. It is not us who refuse negotiations, but them,» the Russian president said Sunday in an interview for the Russia-1 channel.
In this regard, Putin said that Russia had no choice but to start this war while accusing Western powers of having created the necessary conditions for a conflict of this magnitude since they backed the overthrow of former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych in 2014.
Putin also had occasion to refer to the recent announcement by the United States that it would hand over to Ukraine the Patriot air defense system, assuring that he is «one hundred percent» convinced that they will be destroyed.
