Former Russian President and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said Sunday that disarmament agreements in the framework of the Russian invasion of Ukraine «are unrealistic.»

«New agreements on disarmament are currently unrealistic and unnecessary. The sooner the maximum security guarantees that suit our country are received, the sooner the situation will be normalized,» he said in an article published in Russian media.

«The sooner we get the maximum security guarantees, which are convenient for our country, the sooner the situation will normalize. If we do not get them, the tension will remain indefinitely. The world will remain balanced on the brink of World War III and a nuclear catastrophe. We will do everything possible to prevent them,» he added.

Medvedev also pointed out that the exit of foreign companies from the market did not bring down the sector, while «the state fulfills its social obligations».

He also said that the current situation, pointing out that the sanctions imposed against the country, limit the relations with the West.

«From now on it is impossible to have relations with the Anglo-Saxon world. As with a thief, a swindler, a swindler, from whom you can expect anything,» he has declared.

«Now, let’s do without them until a new generation of reasonable politicians comes to power there. Let us be careful and vigilant. We will develop relations with the rest of the world,» he added.
