The Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) has successfully dismantled an Islamic State-related group, active in the Urals and North Caucasus, which was allegedly transporting militiamen to Syria and Ukraine.
This was reported on Monday by the FSB Public Relations Center, which stressed that the organizer of the group had managed to organize an «extensive interregional network» for the «support» of the Islamic State, according to the TASS news agency.
The organization would be engaged in the transfer of militiamen from various points of the Russian geography, especially in the western sector, to Syria or Ukraine to fight there against the Russian Armed Forces.
According to the Russian security agency, so far the organizer of the criminal group and ten other members have been certified arrested and have been taken into custody by the competent authorities.
The arrest operations have been carried out in the republics of Dagestan, Chechnya, in the Tyumen region or the Khanty-Mansi district. The authorities have also seized communication tools, photographs and even videos on the participation of these members in hostilities in Syria on the side of the Islamic State.
