Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelensky acknowledged on Monday that the situation in the Donbas is «difficult» and «painful», but once again expressed his confidence in the final victory.
«The occupiers are using all the resources at their disposal — and they are considerable resources — to achieve the slightest breakthrough,» Zelensky said in a new message posted on social networks.
Zelenski stressed that this «is another day, another week of resistance» and called for «maximum strength and concentration» at strategic points such as Bajmut or Kreminna.
«I thank all of you who resist in your positions and those who in spite of everything manage not only not to lose anything, but to knock out the occupiers,» he added.
The head of state mentioned the work of a number of individual units of the Ukrainian Armed Forces «for their successes in destroying the enemy forces.» «Well done, guys! The more losses the occupants take, the more time we will gain for Ukraine,» he has argued.
He has also mentioned the work of the workers of power companies and their repair work «even on Saturday and Sunday, Christmas Eve and Christmas» to «give more energy to people».
However, he has recognized that nine million people have spent these days without electricity in several regions of the country. «The number and duration of outages is gradually reducing. Thanks to each and every one of those who have made this possible,» he stressed.
On the other hand, Zelenski has assured that «we will quickly implement everything that was agreed in Washington» during his recent visit to the United States.
Finally, he called on the population to «be prepared for missile attacks and Russian provocations». «Air defenses are preparing. The state is preparing and everyone should prepare. Please pay attention to the sirens,» he concluded before his traditional «Glory to Ukraine.»
