Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said Tuesday that during his last meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin «many points were dotted on the i’s» and said that the governments of both countries will work to implement the agreements reached.
«If someone thinks that we only had tea, I must say that yesterday we discussed many issues, not only over tea, but also late at night returning home. Sometimes it takes years for some states to discuss many things over a short period of time,» he said, BelTA news agency Belarus reported.
Thus, he affirmed that «all the issues that were raised have been reached», without giving further details. Lukashenko is on an official visit to the Russian city of St. Petersburg after the informal summit held on Monday by the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).
Putin traveled last week to Belarus to meet with the Belarusian president, who said after the meeting that Moscow and Minsk are ready for dialogue with Europe, which he has appealed to «listen to the voice of reason» amid the invasion of Ukraine, unleashed on February 24 on the Kremlin’s orders.
