Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic has ordered to lower the alert level of the Armed Forces, which since Monday were ready for combat, after measures were taken in the last hours to lower tensions in the northern part of Kosovo.
The Presidency has confirmed to the Tanjug agency this new disposition, which comes just a few hours after Vucic announced the withdrawal of the barricades. Sources quoted by the same agency have confirmed this Thursday the beginning of the lifting of the blockades imposed by the Serbian community.
The blockades began on December 10, following a mobilization to protest the arrest of a former policeman. The Kosovar authorities authorized on Wednesday that this former officer could be placed under house arrest, within the framework of gestures made by both sides.
