
The President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, on Thursday congratulated the Israeli Prime Minister, Benjamin Netanyahu, for forming a coalition government that integrates among its ranks various parties, including far-right formations.
«We look forward to working to strengthen our partnership, promote peace in the Middle East and address the ripples created by Russia’s war against Ukraine,» she said on her official Twitter profile, adding to the congratulations of the United States.
The Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has also made a statement on the aforementioned social network, assuring that he hopes to face together with Netanyahu «common challenges» and «victory over the forces of evil», in reference to Russia.
For its part, Moscow has issued a brief statement, picked up by the TASS news agency, in which it stresses that it hopes that his appointment will strengthen «stability and security» in the Middle East. «We are open to constructive cooperation with the Netanyahu government to further strengthen and expand Russian-Israeli cooperation,» the Russian side added.
Another of those who has spoken out has been the Prime Minister of Hungary, Viktor Orbán, who has assured that they are ready to strengthen cooperation with Israel. «Hungary continues to support Israel against biased and unfair approaches on the international scene,» he added.
