Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has described the reconstruction of Ukraine after the end of hostilities as the largest contemporary economic project in Europe during his annual address to the Parliament in Kiev.

«The reconstruction of Ukraine after the hostilities is another component of justice. It is already clear that it will be the biggest economic project of our time in Europe,» the Ukrainian leader said on Wednesday, as reported by the Ukrainian Presidency.

As he acknowledged, the whole territory of the state needs reconstruction of infrastructure, energy, social sphere and other facilities that do not meet the security requirements.

Moreover, Zelensky said that it is difficult to estimate the amount of resources Ukraine will need after the war, but acknowledged the priority of reconstruction of enterprises.

«It is certain that we should give priority to the restoration of enterprises that were in Ukraine or came to Ukraine during the war, and those that left the Russian market during the war,» the president has detailed.

Besides, the head of the Ukrainian executive reiterated his interest in recovering the Donbas and Crimea regions.

«We have to raise from the ruins the territory where the Russian invaders arrived after February 24. In the same way, we will restore normal life in Donbas and Crimea, which were illegally occupied in 2014 and led to disaster by the occupants in the intervening time,» Zelensky specified.

Also, Zelenski has set a goal for 2023 to release all Ukrainians who have been captured by Russia as prisoners of war since the beginning of the invasion in February. In total, 1,456 people were released by Ukraine, the president’s statement said.
