Peruvian President Dina Boluarte confirmed Friday that she will not attend the inauguration of Brazil’s President-elect Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva on Sunday, so the Peruvian delegation will be headed by Prime Minister Alberto Otárola and Foreign Minister Ana Cecilia Gervasi.
«Our government is committed to strengthening the bilateral relationship with the brother country of Brazil, emphasizing the agenda of South American integration and the sustainability of the Amazon,» Boluarte wrote on his Twitter account, where he gave hardly any details.
He has limited himself to saying that he will not be able to attend — «it will not be possible for me to travel», he said –, although this same week the Minister of Justice, José Tello, had attributed Boluarte’s absence to the follow-up of the project presented in Congress and in which it is proposed that the head of the Parliament, José Williams Zapata, will assume the Presidency of the State when the president is absent.
