The Russian administration of the occupied town of Nova Kakhovka in Ukraine’s Kherson region on the banks of the Dnieper River reported Friday that the town has been left without electricity due to a Ukrainian attack.
«Ukrainian Nazis have launched an artillery attack on Nova Kakhovka. The entire town has been left without electricity,» according to a message posted by the Russian administration in the town, where emergency teams are now investigating the damage, according to the statement, reported by Russia’s TASS news agency.
Russia has been denouncing in recent days Ukrainian artillery attacks on Moscow-controlled towns on the left bank of the Dnieper – it should be recalled that the right bank, where Kherson city is located, was recaptured on November 11 by Ukrainian forces.
The crossing of the Dnieper has been for months one of the major objectives of the Ukrainian Army but the task is difficult because of the concentration of Russian forces and the absence of a safe passage due to the poor condition of the bridges crossing the river.
Both Nova Kakhovka and other towns on the left bank began at the beginning of the month a process of evacuation of the civilian population in the direction of the Russian town of Tuapsé, in the Krasnodar region, 500 kilometers from Kherson and passing the Crimean peninsula.
