Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu on Saturday congratulated the Russian military deployed in Ukraine in the framework of the invasion of the territory and assured that victory is «inevitable».
Shoigu, who admitted in his New Year’s speech the «complexity» of this year 2022, indicated that Christmas is a symbol of «hope for a peaceful future».
However, he acknowledged that in the last year «we have all faced circumstances that have caused changes in the course of events», according to Interfax news agency.
Thus, he explained that «attempts are being made to tear down the glorious history of Russia and its great achievements». «They tear down monuments of those who defeated fascism and instead put criminals on a pedestal,» he said.
«The last year will always be remembered in the military chronicle of our homeland, thanks to your courage and heroism in the fight against terrorism and neo-Nazism,» he has continued before assuring that the Army personnel will be «always remembered in Russia.»
In this regard, he pointed out that the troops are «heroically fulfilling their combat missions to protect national interests and ensure Russia’s security.» «You are celebrating the New Year away from your relatives, carrying out the most difficult tasks during a special operation,» he added.
«You are protecting not only Russia’s great history but also its bright future,» he has insisted, while expressing gratitude to doctors and workers of the military-industrial sector. «Victory, like the New Year, is inevitable,» he has concluded.
