Russian forces reported Wednesday that they have managed to repel a counterattack by the Ukrainian Army in the vicinity of Dorozhnianka in the Donetsk region, where fighting between the sides continues.
The spokesman of the Russian Defense Ministry, Igor Konashenkov, has thus indicated that although the Ukrainian forces have persisted in their attempt, «they have not succeeded» in the framework of their counter-offensive.
«The units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine have carried out unsuccessful attempts to seize positions of the Russian troops in the south,» he said, according to information from the Interfax news agency.
In this regard, he pointed out that all counterattacks «have been repulsed» as the Ukrainian Army units are «withdrawn from their original positions». Konashenkov specified that Russian troops are continuing their operations in the region.
«The losses of the Ukrainian Army have increased throughout the day and more than a hundred servicemen have been killed,» he explained before stating that «five reconnaissance groups have been intercepted.»
