China has rejected repeated offers from the United States to share vaccines, prompting frustration among U.S. officials over concerns about a resurgence of the pandemic.
The Biden Administration has offered vaccines to Beijing amid concerns about new variants and the impact on the Chinese economy, Bloomberg reports.
Washington has also proposed indirect ways of supplying vaccines so that there is a chance that Xi Jinping will accept foreign aid, several U.S. officials have told the agency.
International organizations have these days questioned the transparency of the Chinese Ministry of Health, which has seen an exponential increase in cases following the drastic lifting of restrictions under the ‘Covid Zero’ policy.
In the meantime, several countries have begun to impose travel restrictions on people coming from China and have asked it to share data on its current infection situation in order to deal with the pandemic, collaborating «closely» at a global level.
