The President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, appointed on Friday Pedro Rafael Tellechea, who headed the Venezuelan petrochemical company PEQUIVEN, as the new president of the state-owned oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (PDVSA).
This has been confirmed by the President himself in a message published through his Twitter account, in which he emphasized that «PDVSA will be presided over by Pedro Rafael Tellechea, who with his great experience at the head of PEQUIVEN will consolidate the impulse of the national oil industry».
«All our recognition to the work of Asdrúbal Chávez, who will soon have new responsibilities», he asserted in relation to the now former president of the state-owned company.
In this sense, he said that Tellechea has achieved during the last years «important results for the oil industry», according to the newspaper ‘El Universal’.
His decision comes after Venezuela’s opposition National Assembly ended at the end of December the mandate of the oppositionist Juan Guaidó as «president in charge» of the country after the recent criticisms received for not having achieved the objectives foreseen by those who raised him in 2019.
