Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski met Friday in Kiev, the country’s capital, with several U.S. senators to address the situation on the front line, where Ukrainian forces are fighting the Russian Army.
«We discussed the current situation on the front line and the danger of an escalation of hostilities,» Zelenski said on his Telegram account before criticizing the Russian truce on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas, which he considers «a manipulation to hide their real military intentions.»
Zelenski, who has thus conversed with US Senators Jack Reed (Rhode Island) and Angus King (Maine), thanked the US population for their support, the President, Joe Biden, and the Congress.
«We appreciate the help to our military. We have really noticed. The U.S. is leading on this very important issue, and it brings victory closer and closer,» he said, before passing on the need for more air defense assistance.
He also indicated that it is «important to provide Ukraine not only with funding but also with help to overcome challenges, such as restoring the energy system».
