The North Korean regime has urged citizens to increase quarantine measures to contain the COVID-19 pandemic, as it considers that the region is now experiencing one of the «most serious episodes in the world» with the rise of infections in neighboring countries such as China, Japan and South Korea.
The North Korean official media have appealed to caution to «completely» prevent contagions, in a series of public messages that put Pyongyang on guard against a potential worsening of the health emergency derived mainly from neighboring China, according to the Yonhap agency.
The North Korean leader, Kim Jong Un, declared victory against the pandemic in August 2022, after a few months that the authorities themselves recognized as complicated and in which they even confirmed the first death due to the coronavirus.
However, Kim also urged the population to wear masks in November, two months after advocating a vaccination campaign aimed at increasing the level of immunization in a country that prevents any hint of external surveillance.
