The governor of the Ukrainian region of Kherson, Yaroslav Yanushevich, has denounced Russian shelling with incendiary ammunition against the homonymous capital after the end of the 36-hour truce announced by Moscow on the occasion of Orthodox Christmas.
Yanushevich reported that the attacks did not cause casualties, but recalled that the Geneva Convention prohibits the use of incendiary ammunition against civilian targets.
Russian forces have fired shells at other territories controlled by Ukrainian forces such as the town of Zaporiyia or several localities in the Dnipropetrovsk region. One person has been killed in night attacks on Kharkov.
Meanwhile, in Kramatorsk and Kostiantinivka — in Donetsk — missile impacts have been registered with the result of one dead and eight wounded, according to a presidential spokesman, Kirilo Timoshenko.
In addition, the Ukrainian Deputy Minister of Defense, Hanna Maliar, has recognized that her military is in a «difficult» situation due to the accumulation of Russian troops on the Soledar front, near Bajmut, a fundamental line for the defense of the localities of Sloviansk and Kramatorsk. Maliar has denounced the use of regular infantry and Wagner Group mercenaries.
In this line, the Ukrainian president, Volodimir Zelenski, has announced the sending of reinforcements to the Bajmut region, and Kiev has assured that it has bombed 21 targets with its aviation.
On the other hand, this Sunday, the pro-Russian authorities of Lugansk have denounced a «sabotage» in the form of the detonation of a natural gas pipeline which has left more than 13,000 customers in nine localities without supply.
