Chilean President Gabriel Boric on Tuesday lamented the deaths reported by Peruvian authorities in anti-government protests in the south of the country.
«It is unacceptable and painful to see the number of people who have died in clashes with the Police in the south of the country,» he has indicated in a message on his profile on the social network Twitter.
The Chilean president has assured that the «State must always safeguard and respect Human Rights», while he has shown his support to the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (IACHR) «that will visit the country to see the serious situation».
According to the balance, at least 17 people have died, among them a minor, and several dozens have been injured this Monday in the southeast of Peru, in the region of Puno, while a policeman died this Tuesday when his vehicle caught fire.
