The British Conservative Party has expelled Andrew Bridgen MP from the party after he claimed that the vaccination process against COVID-19 is «the greatest crime against humanity since the Holocaust».
«Misinformation about the vaccine causes harm and costs lives. I am therefore removing Andrew Bridgen from party discipline with immediate effect, pending a formal investigation,» said Tory backbench leader Simon Hart.
For Hart, Bridgen’s words have «crossed a line» of offense as none of his previous and frequent criticisms of vaccination had done. «We should be proud of what has been achieved,» defended Hart.
Following his party’s decision, Bridgen will become an independent MP in the House of Commons, according to the British television network Sky News.
The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has expressed his «strong condemnation in the strongest terms» for Bridgen’s statements and has assured that it is «unacceptable to establish links and use language like that». «I am determined to eradicate the scourge of anti-Semitism,» he said.
«It has absolutely no place in our society. And I know that previous years have been a challenge for the Jewish community, and I don’t want them to go through something like that again,» the British ‘premier’ has defended.
