The Ukrainian Army on Wednesday denied that the town of Soledar, a few kilometers from Bajmut, is completely under the control of Russian forces, as announced by the Wagner Group.
Serhiy Cherevati, spokesman for the Armed Forces of Ukraine, thus rejected these statements and insisted that «it is not true that Soledar has fallen» completely. «Wait for the details included in the Ukrainian Army’s report,» he pointed out, as reported by the Suspilne radio station.
The Strategic Communications Department of the Armed Forces has questioned the authenticity of a series of photographs released by Russia that would confirm Russia’s «capture of Soledar».
«It seems that the location they show does not correspond to reality and that it is not really the Soledar salt mines that appear in the images,» Cherevati pointed out before stressing that, with this information, Moscow could be trying to justify «high losses among prisoners.»
In this regard, the Ukrainian forces have released a series of photographs showing the mines in question without any presence of Russian servicemen, contrary to what the Russian Army had announced.
«It seems that it is not true and that they are not in the mines of Soledar, (…) which has been and always will be Ukrainian,» the Army has indicated.
