Brazil’s Attorney General’s Office has asked the Supreme Federal Court (STF) to include former President Jair Bolsonaro in the investigation into the assault on Brazilian institutions by Bolsonaro supporters.
The request has been submitted by several members of the Public Prosecutor’s Office. It will now be up to the president of the STF, Rosa Weber, to analyze the request and decide whether to open an investigation against Bolsonaro, as reported by the newspaper ‘O Globo’.
Although the petition, signed by the deputy attorney general, Carlos Frederico Santos, does not directly name the former president, it does reflect that it is necessary to investigate those who have attacked the ballot box, insinuated electoral fraud or those who have delegitimized the victory of the current president, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.
Likewise, he also assures that those who have attacked the Supreme Court and even those who are abroad are targets of these terrorism investigations. Bolsonaro is currently in the United States.
