Russian President Vladimir Putin on Sunday assessed the «positive dynamics» of the so-called Russian special military operation in Ukraine, the official name by which Moscow describes the invasion of the country.
«Everything is developing within the plan of the Defense Ministry and the General Staff and I hope that our soldiers will give us even more satisfaction with the outcome of the combat,» the Russian leader said in statements to Rossiya-1 television picked up by the TASS news agency.
On Friday Russia reported the capture of the town of Soledar, a strategic locality which would now be «completely liberated» by the Russian forces.
The seizure of Soledar would cut off supply routes to Bakhmut/Artemovsk, the target of the recent Russian military offensive, notes Moscow.
Ukraine has denied that the town is under Russian control but has confirmed heavy fighting in and around the town.
