The Russian government has placed UK Foreign Minister Jamed Cleverly on its sanctions blacklist in retaliation for British assistance to the Ukrainian authorities, who are now aspiring to receive new military vehicles.
«I have been sanctioned by the Russian government. Good,» Cleverly himself wrote on his Twitter account. «If that’s the price for supporting Ukrainian freedom, I’m happy to be sanctioned,» he added.
London has positioned itself as a key ally of Kiev since the Russian offensive began in February 2022 and is now considering bolstering military aid with tanks.
The spokesman of the Russian Presidency, Dimitri Peskov, does not hide that Moscow sees «very badly» commitments like those of Poland or the United Kingdom in this regard, despite the fact that at the same time he does not believe that the arrival of more advanced equipment could end up tipping the balance in favor of Ukraine. «The tanks will burn like everything else,» the Kremlin spokesman said Monday, according to the Interfax agency.
