The president of Peru, Dina Boluarte, held a meeting on Monday with religious leaders of the country, to whom she asked for collaboration to strengthen dialogue and social peace in the midst of the strong protests that are taking place and in which they are calling for the calling of elections.
During the meeting, held at the Government Palace, the attendees have advocated for the construction of «a Peru in peace», without disagreements, and with the opening of spaces to talk, listen and walk the path of unity and development, according to a press release from the Presidency.
The Peruvian head of state thanked «the interest and concern» of the religious leaders for joining in the search for social peace in the country, stressing the need for dialogue to be sustained over time among all Peruvians.
Meanwhile, the president of the Interreligious Council of Peru and representative of the Peruvian Episcopal Conference, Salvador Piñeiro, indicated that they «raise their prayers» so that Peru may be «a country of brothers, where tolerance, understanding and solidarity prevail».
For her part, the executive secretary of the council, Laura Vargas, expressed their willingness to promote «dialogue, forgiveness, and to travel to the region where it is necessary to strengthen communication and peace».
