United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has «strongly» condemned Saturday’s attack by the Russian army on a residential building in the eastern Ukrainian city of Dnipro, which has so far left 40 people dead.
Guterres’ deputy spokesperson Stephanie Tremblay stressed that «attacks on civilians and civilian infrastructure violate international humanitarian law.» «They must end immediately,» she said.
Tremblay also said that the secretary general has conveyed «his deepest condolences to the families of the victims of the attack in Dnipro and wishes a speedy recovery to the wounded,» according to a statement.
Ukrainian authorities reported on Monday that 40 people, including three children, have been killed in the Russian attack carried out over the weekend.
In addition, 75 people were wounded, 14 of them minors, while more than thirty people are missing. The emergency services, in turn, have managed to rescue about 40 people, including six children.
The Prime Minister of Ukraine, Denis Shmigal, reported on Sunday that the previous day Ukraine had been the target of more than 30 missiles launched by the Russian Armed Forces, 20 of which were shot down by the defense systems.
