Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has assured on Monday that those responsible for the attack on a residential building in Dnipro, eastern Ukraine, will be tried by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
«There is no doubt: every person guilty of this war crime will be identified and brought to justice,» said the Ukrainian president, while announcing that the Security Service of Ukraine «has already begun to collect information about the Russian military who prepared and carried out this attack.»
«We will use all available opportunities, both domestic and international, to ensure that all Russian murderers, all those who give and execute orders for missile terrorism against our people, face legal sentences,» he added, indicating that the recent attack on Dnipro, «as well as other similar attacks,» fall under the jurisdiction of the ICTY.
In this regard, he said that he will make sure that «they serve their punishment», as it is «a fundamental task for Ukraine and for our partners».
Zelenski also called for heavy weapons from the West in connection with the attack on Dnipro, praising the UK for deciding to send a military aid package including armored vehicles and artillery.
Therefore, the Ukrainian President has indicated that this week «will be even more active» at the diplomatic level, assuring that at the Davos Forum «Ukraine will be heard».
The Ukrainian authorities reported on Monday that 40 people, including three children, have already been killed by the Russian attack carried out over the weekend. In addition, 75 people were wounded, 14 of them minors, while more than thirty people are missing. The emergency services, in turn, have managed to rescue about 40 people, including six children.
