Ukrainian authorities on Wednesday raised to nearly 460 the number of children killed since the beginning of the Russian invasion, unleashed on February 24, 2022 on the orders of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The Ukrainian Prosecutor’s Office has indicated in a message on its Telegram account that it has so far been able to verify the death of 459 children, before adding that more than 900 have been injured «as a result of the large-scale armed aggression by Russia.»
«These figures are not final, as work to establish them is continuing at the sites of active hostilities, in the temporarily occupied territories and in the liberated territories,» he noted, after confirming the death of six minors as a result of a shell attack on a residential building in Dnipro.
Finally, he pointed out that the Donetsk oblast is the one with the highest number of victims, with 429 dead and wounded. Behind are Kharkov region with 269, Kiev region with 117, Zaporiyia region with 84, Kherson region with 83, Mikolaiv region with 82, Chernigov region with 68, Lugansk region with 66 and Dnipropetrovsk region with 63.
