Police in Russia’s capital, Moscow, have stationed themselves Thursday in the vicinity of the monument to Ukrainian writer Lesia Ukrainka, a space that on Wednesday hosted an impromptu tribute to the more than 40 people killed in the attack on a residential building in Dnipro, Ukraine.

The human rights organization OVD-Info denounced on Wednesday the arrest of four people after they laid flowers at the monument. Ukrainian media reported that other monuments to illustrious Ukrainians in Russia have also served as impromptu tributes.

After the arrest of these four people in Moscow, two officers of the capital’s police stationed themselves at the small park in the center of the city, where the statue of Lesia Ukrainka is located, during the 14 hours of the day.

Although the authorities have removed the flowers, photographs and even stuffed animals -in memory of the deceased minors-, anonymous citizens have continued placing objects to pay homage to those killed in an attack of which Ukraine accuses Russia, although from the Kremlin they point out that it could have been planned by «Western powers».
