Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski has questioned Germany for keeping the delivery of ‘Leopard’ tanks to Ukraine on hold after several Western countries came out in favor of a shipment of battle tanks as part of an international coalition.
«You are grown-up people. You can talk like this for another six months, but people die in our country every day,» Zelenski told ARD channel after both Poland and Finland announced their readiness for this joint action, which has to be approved by Berlin.
«In simple language: can you deliver ‘Leopards’ or not? Then deliver them!» the Ukrainian president has criticized, adding that the ‘Leopards’ will serve the Ukrainian Armed Forces to defend themselves against Russian attacks.
Earlier, during the Davos Forum, the Ukrainian president stated that «there are times when one should not hesitate». Foreign Minister Dimitro Kuleba and Defense Minister Oleski Reznikov urged countries such as Canada, Denmark, Finland, Germany, Greece, the Netherlands, Poland, Norway and Spain, among others, to join the international coalition initiative to supply battle tanks to Kiev.
Thus, the presidents of Poland, Andrzej Duda, and Lithuania, Gitanas Nauseda, who also support the measure, are confident that the German Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, will end up giving the ‘green light’ at the meeting to be held on Friday by the heads of defense of the countries that militarily support Ukraine at the German base in Ramstein.
