A 35-year-old man has been arrested for allegedly raping a two-and-a-half-month-old calf in Chanpur village in the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh.
The suspect, identified as Ramprasad, allegedly attacked the cow — a sacred animal in India — on Saturday night, a police spokesman, Sanjay Kumar, was quoted as saying by Indian television NDTV.
Local residents beat up the suspect after catching him in the middle of the attack and then handed him over to the police. A veterinarian examined the calf. The suspect has been sent to prison.
