A soldier identified as Gul Sher, 24, has been killed in a car bomb attack in Yani Jel, Bannu district, in Jiber Pakhtunkhwa province, the press office of the Pakistani Armed Forces has reported.
«There is a clean-up operation in the area to eliminate the terrorists,» explained the military statement, quoted by Geo TV.
Tehrik e Taliban Pakistan (TTP), the Pakistani Taliban, ended their ceasefire in November and increased the frequency of their attacks. Islamabad claims that the group has taken advantage of the triumph of the Afghan Taliban who seized power last August to regroup on Afghan soil and carry out attacks from there.
The TTP concentrates its actions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (67 percent) and Balochistan (31 percent), according to Pakistani Interior Ministry statistics.
