Ukrainian Intelligence estimates that more than 315,000 Russian citizens have been sent to Ukrainian territory to fight since President Vladimir Putin announced a «partial mobilization» in the framework of the war.
«According to our calculations not 300,000 but 315,000 people have been transferred at the moment. Now they are conducting a new mobilization in the temporarily occupied territories of Donetsk and Lugansk. If they continue to use these figures, they will run out of male population capable of working in these areas,» said Vadim Skibitsky, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Thus, he pointed out that «measures are still being taken to increase these numbers» and clarified that Russia lacks sufficient weapons for so many units. «Moscow has started to withdraw weapons from warehouses and arsenals, but it needs to do repair and maintenance work as well,» he said before insisting that «they spend more than they produce.»
«They were scheduled to finish coordinating the fighting in early December and have now finished in January. This implies that they have waited a whole month for the division to be equipped with weaponry that they are not producing right now. In the event of increased mobilization, they will have major problems with supplies,» he clarified.
Putin announced on September 21 a partial mobilization. Then, he explained that some 300,000 reservists could be called up in the framework of the invasion of Ukraine.
