The Ukrainian government has approved on Tuesday a series of decrees of the president, Volodimir Zelenski, for the dismissal of five governors, including those of Kiev and Zaporiyia, in the middle of a reshuffle process that has resulted in the last hours in several resignations in the office of the president himself and in the General Prosecutor’s Office.
The Ukrainian Minister of Cabinet Affairs, Oleg Nemchinov, said in his Telegram account that the dismissed governors are those of Kiev, Oleksiy Kuleba; Zaporiyia, Oleksandra Staruja; Sumy, Dimitro Zhivitski; Kherson, Yaroslav Yanushevich; and Dnipropetrovsk, Valentina Reznichenko.
He also confirmed that the dismissals of the deputy ministers of Defense, Vyacheslav Shapovalov; Social Policy, Vitali Muzichenka; and two deputy ministers of Development, Ivan Lukerya and Vyachelsav Negoda, have also been approved. In addition, Oleksi Sobolev has been appointed Deputy Minister of Economy.
Negoda had stated hours earlier that he had tendered his resignation and thanked the people who helped him «overcome obstacles to improve and enhance life in the communities and strengthen the country». Similarly, Lukerya had announced his resignation and thanked the Government, the Parliament and the Ukrainian Presidency.
