Chief of the General Staff of the Russian Armed Forces Valery Gerasimov said Tuesday that NATO’s attempts to «expand» and the «hybrid warfare» conducted by Ukraine «pose a serious threat to Russia’s military security.»
Gerasimov has thus justified the development and strengthening of the Armed Forces for «practical purposes» to ensure state defense. «The plan has been approved by the president, Vladimir Putin, and can be adjusted when there are new threats to Russia’s military security,» he pointed out.
«Today, these threats become aspirations for the Atlantic Alliance, which seeks to expand through Finland and Sweden, and also for Ukraine as a tool for a hybrid war against the country,» he has said, according to information from the TASS news agency.
He also stressed that in order to neutralize these threats, he called for adjusting the «approved parameters» in view of the upcoming meetings of the Armed Forces senior officials.
