Russian President Vladimir Putin reaffirmed Wednesday that the invasion of Ukraine is aimed at «protecting Russia and its people from threats against their own historical territory, which is adjacent to ours,» something he assured that «cannot be allowed.»
Thus, he has thanked «the compatriots who participate in the contest for protecting their people.» «I think people understand the necessity of what Russia is doing to support its citizens in those territories,» he said, referring to the Donetsk and Lugansk regions.
In this regard, he has emphasized that the «young population changes a lot internally after participating in hostilities.» «Only a person who risks his life can understand this (…) This is completely obvious,» he said, according to information from the TASS news agency.
The Russian president also asserted that «these people are needed both in the special services within the framework of the Russian military operation and within the intelligence services».
