The new U.S. Ambassador to Russia, Lynne Tracy, arrived Wednesday at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, all after her successor, John Sullivan, left the post in early September.
«Welcome back to Russia, Ambassador Tracy!» the U.S. diplomatic delegation in Moscow has asserted in a message on the social network Twitter.
The arrival of the new ambassador to Russia comes at a time when relations between Washington and Moscow are severely affected by the war in Ukraine.
Earlier, the new US representative noted that the US Embassy in Russia «is under pressure due to the constraints imposed by the Kremlin,» while stressing her desire to maintain open channels of communication with Russia.
Tracy, who previously served as ‘number two’ at the U.S. Embassy in Moscow, has experience as a senior advisor for Russia at the State Department and has served in several U.S. diplomatic offices for Central Asia.
